In 1996 he became the sole Legal Counsel of Dun & Bradstreet Ltd, before moving to Capgemini UK plc, where he became General Counsel in 2000. He joined Technology Law Alliance as a Director in 2003.

Gavin advises technology suppliers and users on the entire range of technology and outsourcing-related contracts and has been involved in some of the largest outsourcing projects of recent years. As a former General Counsel he has experience of leading a team of lawyers and advising at board level on key transactions.

Examples of Gavin's recent work include:

  • acting for an international IT supplier on the major re-negotiation of a public sector subcontract with a Tier 1 IT and outsourcing supplier.
  • advising on a multi-million pound offshore back office and technology services bid involving a leading UK energy provider. The bid required close liaison with risk management function to ensure that a competitive legal negotiation position was taken and that commercial and delivery risks were understood and managed effectively during the restricted bid process.
  • advising a major motor manufacturer on the procurement of technology services from a multinational outsourcing supplier. Gavin assisted their procurement team in concluding the contract, with particular focus on challenging transition matters and service level requirements.
